Program Details
- Target Audience: Primary Schools (Classes 1-5)
- Program Duration: 5 year program
- Training: School teachers are trained in a One-day workshop by VIVA Master trainers to become facilitators (online/offline).
- Teaching Material: Two sets of kits (in Hindi/ English, as needed) are provided free of cost to enrolled schools.
- Curriculum Framework: 20 modules/year; 45 minutes each (weekly in the school year)
- Post-training Support: Continuous Support is provided by VIVA to teachers for successful implementation of the modules.
- Launch Year: 2022
- Current Reach: Over 300 schools nationwide
- Affiliation/Endorsements: Endorsed and recommended by CBSE

Vision
Awakening is based on Swami Vivekananda’s idea of the goal of education - ‘We want the education by which character is formed, the strength of mind is increased, the intellect is expanded, and by which one can stand by one’s feet.’
The Awakening Programme which was launched on 15th September 2022, by the Honourable Union Minister for Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, aims to prepare young minds to adopt certain noble values in their lives voluntarily and thereby respond to life’s challenges better. Awakening empowers a child to develop self-belief, self-reliance, self-control, and good character. Unless these traits are well developed, mere book learning can cause more harm than good. Every child has these qualities in a ‘seed’ form and gardeners, in the form of trained facilitators and parents, can lovingly enable the seed to sprout, take root, and grow into a powerful tree, viz. a loving and harmonious human being.

This program attempts to enable children to understand and assimilate the basics of the values - Love, Respect, Courage, and Excellence (Four Value Pillars) in day-to-day activities in school, at home, and in the community. Well-designed content, a four-pronged Approach, and the unique methodology of the program create a conducive environment, where the young minds adopt the noble qualities in their lives voluntarily. This helps them to respond to situations and challenges in a better way.
Awakening consists of age-appropriate stories and fun activities that introduce and reinforce certain values for children.
Story-telling is used as a major tool that gives each child an opportunity to Explore, Find, Choose, and Adopt values voluntarily in an environment moderated by a facilitators.
